Job Search. Rejected

🔥 Job Hunting 101: How to Play the Game 🎯

If you’ve lost your job and been searching for a while, here’s my blunt advice: don’t announce it on LinkedIn or your resume/CV. Seriously, don’t. Keep your profile showing you’re still at your last job, and say you’re looking for a “new challenge” for whatever rational reason you can come up with.

Why? Because the job market is a bullshit game of lies:

  • Employers say they care about you like family (lie).
  • You say you care deeply about their mission (lie).
  • They pretend you’re essential, and you pretend you’d die for the company. All lies.

But hey, that’s just how it works. Be “too honest,” and you’re instantly a red flag. Nobody wants to hire someone out of work—they’ll assume there’s something wrong, even when it’s bullshit.

About “The Gap”: Mask it like your life depends on it.

Here’s why:

  1. More interviews: A “currently employed” profile gets more attention.
  2. No red flags: Gaps scream desperation, even if it’s not true.
  3. Leverage: If they think you’re employed, they’ll offer more money to poach you.

Bonus Pro Tip: Never mention salary first.

When asked about your expectations, say something like:
“I don’t have a specific number in mind. I’m open to hearing your offer and will decide if it works for me. My focus is more on career and technical growth than just the money.”
(They eat this shit up, and it keeps you in control.)

Take care of yourself and your loved ones first—everything else can wait.

Good luck, and go crush it out there! 💪
