My Slow-Ass Journey to Becoming a Software Developer 🚀

Switching careers to software development wasn’t some overnight success story for me—it was a slow grind, full of mistakes, late nights, and a ton of trial and error. Here’s how it went down:

I was working full-time because, let’s be real, bills don’t pay themselves. I tried learning Python, bought 3 books on Amazon… and never finished them (classic, right?). Then I signed up for part-time web dev classes, two evenings a week downtown, after work. And guess what? That wasn’t enough either.

Some smart person once said, “You have to learn daily to become a developer.” 💡 And they were damn right. Twice-a-week classes weren’t cutting it, so I picked up Codecademy courses (it could’ve been Udemy or YouTube, it doesn’t matter) and committed to learning daily.

It took me 2-3 years of starting, stopping, re-learning, forgetting, and screwing up interviews (hello, LeetCode—I see you 👀). All while working 40 hours a week and prepping for the arrival of my first baby. Yeah, shit was tough.

But I kept going. No mentor holding my hand. No shortcuts. Just daily effort. And eventually, I made it. 🎉

If I can do it—without being some genius—you can too. Just stick with it every damn day until you get there. 💪
